Our story

We'd rather build gyms than fill jails.

Gyms Not Jails started from a simple observation: the young people most likely to end up in the justice system are often the same ones who light up in a gym. Give them a coach, a community, and a reason to come back, and the trajectory changes.

So we partner with local gyms — places already trusted in the neighborhood — and turn them into on-ramps. Not a program kids get sent to, but a place they choose.

We measure what matters.

Good intentions don't change lives — consistency does. We track how often young people show up, how their engagement deepens over months, and when someone starts to slip so a coach can step in. It lets us prove impact to funders and, more importantly, act on it in real time.

Participant information is treated with care and kept private by design — the community sees the outcomes, never the individual details.
